尼伯特挾強勁風勢襲台，造成約52.3萬戶大停電，停電戶9成集中在南部與東部，四大停電區包括台南、高雄、屏東、台東等地；工業局昨（8）日也表示，高雄大發等工業區也傳出零星停電事件。

由於尼伯特雨量集中在南部，水利署昨決定維持曾文、白河、阿公店等6處主要水壩與攔河堰進行調節性放水或洩洪。

對於南部東部大停電，台電指出，主因尼伯特強陣風造成台東、屏東等地空曠處不少電線桿倒塌、開關設備脫落所致；另核三2部機組也在強風中依照操作規定降載運轉。不過，颱風天用電量下滑，台電特別針對核二廠1號機進行功率校正儀器設備檢修。

另台灣自來水公司副總工程師武經文說，因利嘉淨水廠取水口遭雜物堵住，導致台東地區有2萬餘戶停水，不過經搶修後昨晚已復水。高雄地區則因停電導致淨水場處理能力降低，一度水壓不足，但並未限水。
